The least we can all do if we’re being honest about the state of things is to tell the youngest ones who’ll listen and understand that they are, in so many ways, stuck inside the fantastic but frighteningly frivolous fish tanks of themselves. We should sternly advise them to make peace with all the floating bits and bobs inside it regardless of whether or not they placed them there. It’s equally important to assure them they’ll see other tanks big and small, empty and full, shattered and pristine. They should note but mostly ignore these other ones unless their glass walls should happen to bump into their own by chance or by design. Lastly, and most essential is that they really should enjoy the soak, while keeping in mind that filters aren’t eternal and the water surly someday will be dumped to dry away. [Ryan Nimmo]
