Integration of thread and ingenuity led the way for many in Shanghai to earn a respectable and admired position as a textile worker in the 1930’s. They enjoyed the wages and lifestyle of a labor aristocrat. Who could foresee that such tenacity and determination would unfurl to become a leading industry throughout the country? Not only local but also a leading international trade. So much so that the likes of Thor and Loki are keen to wrap their worshipped musculature in cotton threads today. Not to be mistaken for just any Norse character, this Thor would love to tell you just how well these modern threads caress his body. You simply shouldn’t resist! [Lelia Pollett]
