SISAE 2015

The Shanghai International Science & Art Exhibition 2015 (SISAE) took place in August of 2015 and continued its mission of encouraging the public to explore scientific thinking and artistic expression. With the theme of "Integration and Innovation", SISAE was a bold comment on the growing intimacy between science and art, which took place at the China Art Museum. Designed by the architecture team of He Jingtang, it is the largest art museum in Asia, boasting over 160,000 sqm of floor space and five floors of unique architecture and world-renowned venue space.

Liu Dao took part in this exhibition to represent China's new media art practices. Seven pieces from their dynamic collection of works introduced a new perspective on digital and fine art to the thousands of viewers who visited. Among the visitors were many prestigious guests including SHANG Yong- Vice chairman of China Association of Science and Technology, YING Yong- Deputy Secretary of Shanghai, ZHOU Bo- Deputy Mayor of Shanghai and YE Shuhua- Chinese astronomer, foreign fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society of Britain. On display was “The Observer Effect,” “Flyin' Solo,” “I’m new here as well,” “The Dualism Of White And Black,” “Picture Perfect,” “Down to the Countryside,” and “A Spark of Temptation.”

What many residents know as the China pavilion built for the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, the China Art Museum houses one of the most prominent collections of modern Chinese art to date. The museum is internationally acclaimed for guest exhibits with the world-renowned British Museum (London), the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam), Maisons de Victor Hugo (Paris) and the Whitney (New York) to name but a few. Liu Dao’s work exhibited in the same hall (Hall No. 27) with Swiss artists Lanke Frank, Tarimo Fu, Danielle Griego and Nikola Marincic & Jorge Orozco; Danish artist: Kasper Fangel Skov as well as other inspiring artists from the UK, United States, Singapore and more.
